ワールド・デストラクション ~世界撲滅の六人~/Sands of Destruction

Ah, Sands of Destruction. I'm not fond of the game, and this was still a bit of an insult. You see, I already know that video game adaptions tend to go horribly wrong. It was a promotion, essentially. Although, I don't know who they were promoting to, because not only is the anime bad, but it also is absolutely nothing like the game, except in terms of characters, which it still isn't exactly a success in, getting some personalities very wrong.

Let's start with the looks. Those are okay, the visuals are decent and the animation doesn't have too many errors, which is probably the best compliment this will be getting. It's unfortunate, I know. I will give the show some credit, it managed to make the characters look right. They're recognizable, at least.

As for the characters themselves...eeeeh...Well, they got Kyrie right in that he's timid, but he does still fight, which he does not...well, do in the anime. Morte's alright, although they messed with her backstory. Taupy randomly adds "kuma" to the ends of his sentences, Agan is barely in the show, Naja is okay...and then we get to Rhi'a. Poor, poor Rhi'a. In the game, she's calm and quiet. In the show...

My thoughts exactly...

She has serious anger issues, and an overall bad attitude that is nothing like how it was in the game. She almost seems unstable.

The soundtrack is average at best, nothing really special. It does manage to have a rather unfitting intro and outro, though.

The plot is absolutely different in pretty much every way that it can be from the game. It's actually worse than the game's plot, which is rather surprising considering the game's plot really wasn't that great. Basically, a scaredy-cat of a boy meets a girl who wants to destroy the world, and it all goes downhill from there. The show is a kind of filler version of the game, which is to say, it's bad.

I don't know, this whole show was just a mess. It's hard to gather my thoughts on it.

断裁分離のクライムエッジ/The Severing Crime Edge

I'll start this whole thing off with something I finished pretty recently. The Severing Crime Edge, henceforth referred to as Crime Edge, has a rather bizarre premise. A guy with a hair cutting fetish finds a girl with insanely long hair, and only he can cut that hair. Fascinating, right? Yeah, I knew this would be dumb from the get-go, but was hoping it wouldn't be completely disappointing.

Note that I said I was hoping
The show is pretty much stereotypical fanservice anime number 4,653,125, but it somehow manages to be worse than most of its peers. You see, the fetishes are entirely nonstandard, not that that's bad, but, the way they are presented is in an entirely unattractive way most of the time, and the other small percentage it could be effective, you're usually still wondering why you didn't spend your time on a better show that could've done more for you.

There is, surprisingly, some action scenes. Depressingly, apparently the animators forgot they had spent all of the budget on making the hair look nice, and thus almost every action sequence is one color, usually an ugly brownish-grey. This is actually quite irritating, if you can't even dedicate yourself to being full fanservice, then at the very least color in your damn action sequences! It's not pleasing on the eyes, and once again, leaves you wondering why you aren't watching something else.

The story is also a mess. The main character ends up going to a loli-ahem, young girl's house in the hopes of finding out if the rumors of a ghost are true. Technically they are, but she isn't a ghost. He immediately obsesses over her hair, and a few days later discovers that his special scissors passed down from his murderer of an ancestor can cut the hair of the girl, despite all other scissors failing. He then proceeds to find he can fight with the scissors, and battles against other users of items passed down from murderous ancestors.

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking either. It's all just an excuse for hair and/or loli fetishists to have something to interest themselves. Don't watch it unless you really like those, and even then, you could do much better.
